Membership
Joining Cambrian Credit Union is straightforward. You need to be a Manitoba resident, complete a membership application, and purchase a nominal membership share. You can apply in person at our branch at 225 Broadway, Winnipeg, or start the process online. Membership is open to individuals, businesses, and organizations alike.

There is a small, one-time membership share purchase required to become a member-owner of Cambrian Credit Union. This share represents your ownership stake in the credit union. Unlike a fee, this amount is held in your account and is refundable if you ever decide to close your membership. There are no ongoing annual membership fees.

Yes. As a Manitoba credit union, your deposits at Cambrian Credit Union are protected by the Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Manitoba (DGCM). This provides unlimited deposit protection on eligible deposits — meaning your savings, chequing, and GIC balances are fully protected regardless of amount. This is a key advantage over many other financial institutions.
Get StartedOpening a new account is quick and easy. Existing members can open additional accounts directly through online banking or by visiting our branch. New members will need to complete a membership application first. You'll need:
- Two pieces of valid government-issued ID
- Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) for registered accounts
- An initial deposit (amount varies by account type)
